The Little Linksters Blog

Help us reach our goal! We are now off and running in trying to raise funds for our new 501c3, The Little Linksters Association for Junior Golf Development. Our goal is to launch our program for kids ages 3-8 nationwide. We are one of very, very few in the country to focus a majority of our time on kids 3-8 years of age. We feel that through our efforts our program can pave the way for a stream lined, national program lead by PGA and LPGA Professionals throughout the country that become Little Linksters Certified and run our program in their area. We have a great deal of the work behind us but need your support to make it over the final few hurdles. Click the widget in this post to help and learn more.

Today’s spotlight video comes from last years 3-4 year old age group winner, 4 year old, Jack Ryan Donovan of Silver Spring, MD. Looks like Jack still likes golf! The swing is looking good young man!

Little Linksters is proud to announce that it has joined forces with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in an effort to not only better our program and company but to also reach out to a broader audience of parents and kids to let them know of our mission to start children younger at golf. By joining AAU as a club, we started taking the planned steps toward a reworking of our program as we move into 2012. Little Linksters will be better and offer much more to the kids we touch through the wonderful game of golf. Stay tuned for details on the upcoming new “Club Little Linksters” which will be available to kids 3-8 years of age nationwide.

More on AAU….

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs.

The AAU was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sport. During its early years the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the U.S. in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of “Sports for All, Forever,” is shared by over 500,000 participants and over 50,000 volunteers. The AAU is divided into 56 distinct Districts. These Districts annually sanction more than 34 sports programs, 250 national championships, and over 30,000 age division events.

Programs offered by the AAU include: AAU Sports Program, AAU Junior Olympic Games, AAU James E. Sullivan Memorial Award, and the AAU Complete Athlete Program. In addition, the President’s Challenge program is administrated on behalf of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

In 1996, the AAU joined forces with Walt Disney World. Later that year, the AAU relocated its national headquarters to Orlando, Florida. More than 40 AAU national events are conducted at the Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex. Disney’s Wide World of Sports features a double-deck 7,500 -seat baseball stadium and baseball quadraplex, two fieldhouses that accommodates hardwood courts, a softball quadraplex, two youth baseball fields, a track and field complex four multi-purpose performance fields sized for soccer tournaments.

If you are interested in sports participation, the AAU is the place to start.

We all know that life has many forks in the road. I have considered myself blessed to have been a part of the Winter Park Country Club for the past 13 years. I have made many great friends there and have learned a great deal about the golf business and myself while working at WPCC. With that said, I have decided to turn the page in my professional life and will be moving forward with Little Linksters, LLC full time. I am very excited to announce the formation of the Little Linksters Golf Academy at Metrowest Golf Club in Orlando, FL. This will be an extension of our current offerings at Little Linksters, LLC where we specialize in introducing and teaching kids 3-8 years of age the game of golf. Metrowest will serve as our new “home-base” for Little Linksters, LLC. In addition, we are also pleased to announce the formation of the Accel Golf Academy of Central Florida which will also be located at Metrowest Golf Club. This will be a joint venture with fellow instructor Ashleigh Korzack. We have many great player development programs we are putting together for all ages through the Accel Golf Academy of Central Florida

Little Linksters will continue to bring golf to kids 3-8 years of age throughout Central Florida through our “mobile” 5 week program as we have for the past three years and in fact, we will see the “mobile” program grow from 6 locations to 11 locations starting in late August. This will include programs at Metrowest Golf Club.

Little Linksters, LLC is pleased to now bring you the following:

Thanks to all of our supporters!

We are very excited about the future at Little Linksters, LLC and the future of the great game of golf!

Brendon R. Elliott, PGA
